Her novel Station Eleven was a finalist for a National Book Award and the PEN/Faulkner Award, won the 2015 Arthur C. Clarke Award, the Toronto Book Award, and the Morning News Tournament of Books, and was adapted into a limited series for HBO.

Sea of Tranquility is a novel of art, time, love, and plague that takes the reader from Vancouver Island in 1912 to a dark colony on the moon five hundred years later, unfurling a story of humanity across centuries and space.

Since 2001, If All Arkansas Read the Same Book has been an annual statewide reading program designed to encourage the enjoyment of reading and promote book discussion in libraries of all types across Arkansas
