If you can’t go to school full-time but want to pursue nursing, ASUMH has a new program for you! The new part-time nursing program is 18 months long, five semesters, and 7-8 credit hours per semester. It will begin in June 2022. Students will graduate in December of 2023. Classes are currently scheduled to meet on Monday evenings, 5-9 pm, and Thursday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm for clinical. To be successful, students should make sure they have a time commitment for the program of approximately 30 hours per week which will include 13 hours in class and clinical and then another 20 hours for online courses and homework.
Practical Nursing program applications are currently available on the ASUMH website: https://asumh.edu/degrees-and-programs/health-sciences/degree/8/nursing-practical-nursing. Completed applications are due by March 15 at noon.
The prerequisites that must be completed are either Human Anatomy and Physiology for Healthcare Professions with lab or Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II with labs. All prerequisite courses must be completed with a “C” or higher. Additionally, you must have a current CNA license.
*College Preparatory courses must be completed prior to applying to the Practical Nursing Program.
ASUMH will continue to offer the current full-time program with both Fall and Spring start dates.
Admission into the program is determined according to earned scores on the HESI A2 exam (Reading Comprehension, Math, and Anatomy and Physiology) and prerequisite GPA. Preregistration for the admission exam is mandatory. Instructions for the exam will be emailed to you once you complete the online application. Limited seating in the testing center is available, so please sign up early.
