Arkansas State University-Mountain Home will mark its 30th anniversary with a free performance by internationally acclaimed illusionist Rick Thomas next month.
“The Magic Continues” is set for 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, at the Ed Coulter Performing Arts Center inside the Vada Sheid Community Development Center on campus. The event is free and open to all ages, but tickets are required due to limited seating.
Thomas has performed more than 20,000 shows across 50 countries over the course of his career. His resume includes headlining at Caesars Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and Broadway, along with a 15-year run in Las Vegas.
He received the title of “Illusionist of the World” from the World Magic Awards and was given the Key to the City of Las Vegas. His Las Vegas family show is recognized as the most successful of its kind in the city’s history.
Thomas has appeared on NBC’s “The World’s Greatest Magic,” “Masters of Illusion” and his own primetime special, along with programs on ABC, FOX, TLC and other networks. His performances blend large-scale illusions, comedy and storytelling.
“This event is more than a performance,” ASUMH Chancellor Dr. Bentley Wallace said. “It’s a celebration of the past 30 years at ASUMH, the community that has made it all possible, and the innovation and excellence we’ll see at the college for the next 30 years.”
