The Baxter County Library is starting off the new year with engaging programs for all age groups this January. From the youngest readers to teens, a diverse range of activities and programs are available and designed to inspire, educate, and entertain.
· Babies & Books (0-1 yr.): Mondays at 9:30am
· Toddler Time (1-2 yrs.): Tuesdays at 10:30am
· Preschool Story Time Fun (3-5 yrs.): Wednesdays at 10:00am & 11:00am
Homeschool Advantage: New Beginnings
Homeschool students in K-12 are invited to join the Library staff on Friday, January 5, from 1:00pm to 2:30pm for science, history, and literature/art classes. All materials provided.
All students K-12 are invited to LEGO Club at the Library on Monday, January 8, from 4:00 to 5:00pm to build and create while making new friends. LEGO Club encourages youth to learn while having fun! Creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork are skills that “playing” with LEGOs can teach us. All LEGOs will be provided, so please do NOT bring your own LEGOs from home.
Arts ‘R Us: Emoji Painting Workshop
Students grades 2nd-6th are invited to join in at the Library on Wednesday, January 17, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm for an Emoji Painting Workshop. Paint your favorite emoji and mount it on a sheet you’ve painted as a galaxy. Create a galaxy with replaceable emojis to express how you’re feeling that day. Let your emojis run wild! Registration is required for this event and can be found on the Library event calendar at www.BaxLib.org/Events. Register by January 15 to save your seat.
Friday After Hours: Oregon Trail
Teens can join in at the Library on Friday, January 19, from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, for a life-sized adventure as we explore the Oregon Trail. Enjoy pizza and fun activities during this special after-hours event. Registration is required for this event and can be found on the Library event calendar at www.BaxLib.org/Events. Tween Library Council
Tweens in grades 4th – 6th are invited to join in at the Tween Library Council on Monday, January 22, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm to read books, discuss program ideas, and have a great time together.
Teen Library Council
Join the Teen Library Council on Tuesday, January 23, from 4:00pm to 5:30pm to share your ideas! This is a volunteer group for teens interested in community service and helping to improve the experience of teens at the Library.
Picturing History: Immigration & Ellis Island
Tweens in grades 4th – 6th are invited to explore little-known historical people, places, and events through picture books on Monday, January 29, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. This month’s focus is on immigration and Ellis Island and how immigrants shared their culture with each other. Enjoy some garlic bread while we learn!
