Every summer the Baxter County Library works to get youth and adults alike excited about the annual Summer Reading Program.
During this year’s Summer Reading program, themed “All Together Now,” 218 youth benefited from participating in the program. 8,512 books were read for a total of 204,666 minutes of reading. Of the 218 youth that signed up, 121 youth completed the Summer Reading program. That is an 18% increase of completers compared to the 2022 program. Fun prizes, such as pop-tubes, candy bars, crinkle books, art supplies, Rubi’s Cubes, stickers, books, and so much more, were handed out throughout the summer for youth readers. We had two completion parties on Saturday, July 29, with pizza and ice cream sundaes, time to hang out with friends and win some more prizes. Youth who completed the Summer Reading Program were entered to win one of two book subscription services for their age group. The grand prize winners are Sam Coleman, Caiden Kaspar, Crews Wooldridge, Brandt Benedict, Cash Mayfield, Lyla Arndt, Logan Crawford, Liam Woods, James Cranford, and Ella Lawrence. Congratulations to all the amazing readers this summer!
Of the 67 adults that participated in the adult program, 22 completed the program. Those that completed the adult summer reading program were entered to win a drawing for a bag of summer fun, including a water bottle, a tie dye bag, a Bluetooth speaker, a Hallmark puzzle, and a Barnes & Noble Exclusive Edition of Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. The winner of the drawing is Mendi Grove. Congratulations to Mendi, and everyone else who entered and participated in the Baxter County Library Summer Reading Program.
