Baxter County fourth graders will spend a school day learning how to stay safe around tractors, chemicals, firearms and lawnmowers at Baxter County Safety Day on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Baxter County Fairgrounds. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The day is part of the Progressive Agriculture Foundation’s Safety Day program, which has taught farm and rural safety to children across the country since 1995. Stations include ATV, chemical, PTO, electrical and lawnmower safety, along with firearm safety and general 911 education.
Students will also see a K-9 demonstration and take part in a first-on-the-scene session led by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, EMS and Air Evac. Lunch, snacks and a take-home bag are included for every participant.
The event is hosted by Baxter County Extension 4-H, the Baxter County Office of Emergency Management and the Baxter County Conservation District.
