Baxter County voters, if you see a voting card in the mail, Baxter County Election Coordinator Lindsay Roberts wants you to know that its not a scam.
The Baxter County Clerk’s Office is sending out yellow and blue voting cards to residents that have not voted since 2021 or earlier due to the National Voter Registration Act, which requires that cards be sent to voters every other year.
The yellow cards are for voters who have not voted since Dec. 2021, and gives voters to confirm and update their address. County officials will use the yellow cards to update those residents voter registration status.
Blue cards are for voters who have not voted since 2019, and are essentially cancellation cards so that the county can accurately maintain its voter rolls. If a resident receives a blue card, they may send the card back after filling in their information to remain a registered voter. If the county does not receive the card back, then the county will cancel the voters registration status. They will have to re-register to vote if they wish to vote in another election.
Residents have up until 90 days before the next election to return their cards. Both sets of cards have paid postage.
