A physician with more than 25 years in obstetrics and gynecology will start seeing patients at the Baxter Health Comprehensive Women’s Clinic in September.
Dr. Michael Campbell joins Dr. Maureen Flowers and Brooke Hinrichs, APRN, at the clinic. His arrival adds capacity at a practice serving a region where OB/GYN care is hard to find.
Access to obstetric and gynecologic care is a persistent problem in rural communities across the country, and north central Arkansas is no exception. Baxter Health has made recruiting more OB/GYN coverage to the region a priority.
“Bringing additional OB/GYN coverage to Mountain Home is something we have been working toward,” said Brian Barnett, vice president of physician enterprise and business development at Baxter Health. He called Campbell a strong addition to an already excellent team. Barnett said women across the region deserve that level of care close to home.
Campbell has practiced in both hospital and clinic settings in Arkansas and Texas. He earned his medical degree from Texas Tech Health Science Center and completed his OB/GYN residency at Texas Tech Regional Health Sciences Center in Amarillo.
His career has covered the full range of obstetric and gynecologic needs, including complicated cases that call for a higher level of clinical experience. He also specializes in laparoscopic and robotic gynecologic procedures.
Those minimally invasive surgical approaches usually mean less pain, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery for patients.
Campbell comes to Mountain Home from Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden, where he served as the facility’s OB/GYN physician.
Away from the clinic, he trains and hunts with his Labradors. He said his dogs never question their purpose and simply do what is written into their DNA, and he enjoys watching them in their element.
