Sara Phelps, a licensed practical nurse on Baxter Health’s 5 South unit, has received the health system’s Heroes with Halos Award. The recognition honors Baxter Health providers, employees, volunteers and departments nominated by grateful patients and families.
Phelps was nominated by a patient she cared for after back surgery in mid-July.
“She showed genuine kindness and compassion, above someone ‘just doing their job,'” the patient wrote. The nomination described her as professional and knowledgeable, with a comforting bedside manner to match.
Baxter Health President and CEO Ron Peterson and 5 South Director Steve Fosness presented the award, joined by members of the unit’s staff.
