David Fry, director of information systems at Baxter Health, retired May 21 after more than 33 years with the hospital.
Fry joined Baxter Health in October 1992 and built the Information Systems department from the ground up.
“Over the years, he helped guide the growth of technology across our organization and played an important role in supporting our teams and patients,” Baxter Health said in a statement.
Fry’s tenure spanned the hospital’s transformation from a paper-based regional facility into a fully digital health system. Major milestones during his career at Baxter Health include the 2009 rollout of electronic medical records and the opening of the eICU, along with the launch of the ANGELS and Arkansas SAVES telehealth programs that linked Baxter Regional to specialists at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
The 2014 launch of the MyBRMC patient portal, the 2018 debut of the Baxter Regional CARE telehealth app and the rapid expansion of telemedicine to 17 clinics during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 also fell within his time at the hospital.
More recent technology projects included the Dragon Medical One dictation system, the remote patient monitoring program that now serves more than 3,300 patients across family practice clinics, the Pulsara emergency communication platform, the 2025 data center installation and full network migration at Fulton County Hospital, and the enterprise telephone system migration that brought the organization onto a single platform.
The hospital recognized Fry the day before his retirement.
“We are grateful for David’s years of leadership, dedication, and service to Baxter Health,” Baxter Health said.
