Missy Tolliver, a certified surgical technologist and first assistant at Baxter Health, has received a Heroes with Halos Award for her work in the operating room.
President and CEO Ron Peterson presented the award. He was joined by Rachel Gilbert, vice president and chief nursing officer; Sarah Edwards, executive director of the Baxter Health Foundation; Lacy Huff, nursing director of surgery; and members of the surgery staff.
Tolliver was credited with helping start and sustain robotic surgery at Baxter Health. Colleagues said she trains new surgical techs and often works when she is not scheduled to keep cases running smoothly.
In a nomination, a physician wrote that she “has been a major anchor in starting and continuing robotic surgery at Baxter.” The physician said Tolliver is highly dedicated to patient care and reflects the kind of staff that makes the hospital strong.
The Heroes with Halos program lets the community honor a Baxter Health provider, employee, volunteer or department. Nominations can be made at baxterhealth.org/heroes.
