The Baxter County Quorum Court held a very quick session on Tuesday evening in the Baxter County Courthouse.
With no old business to take up or presentations to listen to, the court immediately took up an ordinance to appropriate $6,689.22 to the Sheriff’s Office 2023 budget. The money comes from fees, reimbursements and donations from Dec. 2023.
Of note in the money collected for Dec., $300 went towards an animal adoption. An additional $225 was also donated to the Sheriff’s Office.
Following the Sheriff’s reimbursement ordinance, the court approved the second ordinance of the night, which saw $14,000 appropriated to the Prosecuting Attorney’s 2024 Budget for contract labor and $5,000 appropriated towards the Building & Grounds 2024 budget due to an oversight in the 2024 budget process.
The court then passed an ordinance appropriating $2,688.66 into the Public Defender 2024 Budget to rectify another unintentional operational error in the budgeting process.
The night ended with the passage of two resolutions. The first resolution saw the re-appointment of Mr. David Matty to the Cotter/Gassville Rural Fire Protection District Board of Commissioners and the new appointment of Mrs. Dani Pugsley to the same board.
The last ordinance saw the re-appointment of Mrs. Pamela Syfrett, Mr. Jack Coy, and Mr. Ben Tate to the Buford Volunteer Fire Department District Board of Commissioners.
