Mountain Home Varsity Football Coach Steve Ary is looking to cross the finish line this year by raising $15,000 in honor of the Ryan Mallet Memorial Scholarship for the Mountain Home Education Foundation.
Ary said the scholarship was seeking the final $4,000 to reach its $15,000 goal. Money raised goes to students at Mountain Home High School for college. Students should receive around $500 if chosen for the scholarship. The scholarship is open to all students at the high school.
Each donation made to the scholarship is being matched by an anonymous donor. The Baltimore Ravens donated $5,000 to the scholarship last year.
Ryan Mallett, who played for the Ravens from 2015 to 2017 and later coached two seasons of Bomber Football, passed away last summer in a swimming accident in Florida.
A scholarship through the MHEF was set up in his memory with the purpose of helping football players further their post-secondary academic endeavors.
