Tom Bryant has announced his candidacy for State Representative for District 3 as a Republican. The incumbent, Nelda Speaks, is not running for re-election.
A long-time active member of the Mountain Home community, Bryant owns Square One Music in downtown Mountain Home, and resides in Gamaliel. He established the Mountain Home Flyers youth wrestling program and has taught hundreds of children the value of hard work and healthy competition. He was the first sanctioned volunteer wrestling coach for the Mountain Home Bombers.
A 40-year resident of the Ozarks, Bryant was born in Missouri and moved to Mountain Home in his youth. After graduating from Mountain Home High School, he went to work for General Motors where he entered the General Motors Management Training Program. Several years later, Bryant left General Motors to pursue a career in music.

Bryant’s music career proved to be a success, and he’s been a member of several bands over the years, including Ocean and Fighter. Bryant was able to secure a recording contract for Fighter, which he also managed, with Dreamland RCA Records. Eventually Bryant was offered the position of lead singer for the popular rock band A/M Records’ Head East. Bryant still plays music, and his own Tom Bryant Band can be seen touring around the Ozarks.
In response to Speaks endorsement of her chosen replacement, Bryant said, “The people of District 3 have the right to decide who represents them. The level of cronyism and corruption in local, national and state politics is out of control. The incumbent’s ‘appointment’ of her successor is precisely the problem with government today. We must ask ourselves if the people running for office are the most qualified to lead and not the result of political favoritism.”
Bryant states that he is first and foremost a born-again Christian and a constitutional conservative. “Our founding fathers brought forth a form of government rooted in a spirit of freedom and equality. The smaller role government has in our lives the more freedom we can enjoy. There are questions we all ask ourselves and that I plan to address such as, ‘where exactly do our tax dollars go and why is there a lack of accountability of our elected officials? Why does a state house and senate that has a super majority struggle with passing basic constitutional protection laws?’ I intend on bringing accountability back to District 3. I believe all of us should have a voice in determining our own futures. I am a fighter and will outwork all of them to secure freedom for all of District 3.”
