Voters in Bull Shoals elected Michael Savu over incumbent Mayor David Nixon. Savu earned 342 votes while Nixon earned 313 votes.
In Big Flat, incumbent Mayor Glenda Wiseman prevailed over Charles Schmitt, 21 to 7 votes.
Bull Shoals and Big Flat had unique mayoral races this year, with each race having three candidates on the ballot, ultimately leading to the runoff election that concluded this week. None of the candidates in each race made it to the required 50% mark to become elected on election night, Nov. 8.
The Bull Shoals mayoral race saw Michael Savu and Ed Martin face off against incumbent Mayor David L. Nixon. On election night Mayor Nixon received 349 votes (41 percent) compared to Savu’s 351 votes (42 percent). Martin trailed with 147 votes (17 percent).
Bull Shoals has 1,426 registered voters within its city limits.
In Big Flat, Mayor Glenda Wiseman faced off against challengers Charles Schmitt and Casey McClanahan. Big Flat only has 52 registered voters within its city limits, so every vote on election day counted.
