The Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce is leading an initiative to make Baxter County a Work Ready Community, with support from Arkansas State University-Mountain Home and the Mountain Home Public School District.
The Chamber urges local businesses to sign up and recognize the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), which applicants receive upon completing the ACT WorkKeys Assessment. This assessment measures essential workplace skills that can affect job performance and increase opportunities for career advancement.
The WorkKeys NCRC assesses three core areas:
- Graphic Literacy: Reading and comprehending graphical materials to solve work-related problems.
- Applied Math: Using mathematical reasoning and problem-solving techniques in workplace situations.
- Workplace Documents: Reading and understanding workplace documents to make job-related decisions and solve problems.
According to the data provided, businesses adopting the WorkKeys system can expect benefits including:
- Up to 23% increase in employee productivity
- 25-75% reduction in turnover
- 50-70% reduction in time-to-hire
- 70% reduction in cost-to-hire
- 50% reduction in training time
Businesses interested in implementing the WorkKeys system can register through the ACT WorkKeys Employer Registration Form. They can also contact Dani Pugsley at the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce or Becca Camp at Mountain Home Public Schools for more information.
The initiative encourages businesses to add WorkKeys credentials to their application process and consider offering incentives for WorkKeys-credentialed applicants or employees
