The Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce holds its second annual State of Education Breakfast this morning at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.
Breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m. in the Trout Room at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center, 1600 S. College St. The presentations start at 8 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Three speakers will give updates on their schools: ASUMH Chancellor Bentley Wallace, Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Allyson Dewey and Mountain Home Christian Academy Administrator Doyne Byrd. NEXT Powered by NAEC is sponsoring the breakfast.
The forum is part of the Chamber’s “State of” series, which has also covered healthcare, city and county government, and real estate and tourism since it launched last year.
At the first education breakfast in August 2025, Dewey reported the district’s ACT average of 20.3 topped the state average of 18.5, and that Mountain Home students scored above state averages in all but six of 21 tested areas. Byrd told the crowd MHCA had earned full Cognia accreditation, which opened the school to families using LEARNS Act Educational Freedom Accounts.
The Chamber asked attendees to register in advance at bit.ly/StateofEd2026. Anyone with questions can call the Chamber at 870-425-5111.
The Observer will have coverage of the presentations.
