The Arkansas State University-Mountain Home Charity Golf Classic returns to Big Creek Country Club this weekend, with proceeds going to the college’s technical education campus.
The 25th annual tournament runs Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7. It is a three-person scramble with a shotgun start and tee times at 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each day.
Money raised will benefit the ASUMH Dr. Robert L. Myers Technical Education Campus. The campus trains students in fields such as welding, mechatronics, automotive service and boat manufacturing, and it lets area high schoolers earn college credit.
The event has grown into one of the area’s largest fundraisers. Organizers say it has raised more than $622,000 over its first 24 years.
Entry costs $225 per player, or $675 per team, and the field is capped at 72 teams. The tournament is open to non-professional players, with separate tee boxes for different age groups and for women and junior golfers.
Players get lunch both days and dinner Saturday evening. Spouse or guest tickets cost $80 for all meals or $40 for Saturday dinner only.
Paid entrants can practice at Big Creek through Friday for $89 plus tax per day, cart included. Teams can register at asumh.edu/golf.
Yelcot is the tournament’s title sponsor. Other sponsors include Arvest, Baxter Health, Anstaff Bank, Danfoss, Glazer’s Beer and Beverage and The Mountain Valley Spring Water.
