The boat and pickup that belonged to longtime Bomber baseball coach Don Webb will go up for auction Oct. 1 during Mountain Home’s Homecoming Week, with every dollar raised going to scholarships in his name.
Proceeds will benefit the Mountain Home Education Foundation, which will use the money to fund scholarships honoring Webb. The two items will be sold separately, so bidders can go after the boat or the truck on their own.
Webb died in June. He led the Mountain Home High School baseball program for years before retiring in the spring of 1995, and he later served the city as an alderman on the Mountain Home City Council.
Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Allyson Dewey called him a legend who embodied the true spirit of a Bomber at the time of his passing. “He was a friend, coach, and mentor to both students and adults in our community,” Dewey said.
The boat package is a 2019 Supreme L42 with a 15-horsepower four-stroke Mercury motor, an Eazy Loader trailer and a custom-made cover. The boat, motor, trailer and cover will be sold together as a single item with a fair market value of $12,000 and a minimum bid of $6,000.
The truck is Webb’s white 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 regular cab pickup with about 149,665 miles. It has a 4.3-liter V6, automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, along with four-wheel ABS, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and locks, power steering, a tilt wheel, dual airbags and an AM/FM stereo with a cassette player.
The Silverado carries a fair market value of $8,000 and a minimum bid of $5,000.
Both items have been cleaned up for the sale. Rob Williams and Richie’s Detailing donated their time to detail the boat and truck ahead of the auction.
Organizers said the auction is a chance to honor Webb’s legacy while helping future students. Webb coached generations of Bomber athletes, including Ron Czanstkowski, who played for him, joined his staff in 1991 and took over the program when Webb retired.
