The Mountain Home Community and Aquatic Center is changing its age policy for members and guests, the latest adjustment at the city facility since it opened last month.
The new rules take effect Friday, June 12, according to a notice from center staff. They set age and identification requirements for teenagers and for anyone buying a day pass without an adult.
Under the policy, any person age 15 must have a membership with their age verified by a legal guardian before they can enter the center. Verification can be made with a birth certificate or a state-issued photo ID.
Guests and day pass users who are not accompanied by a guardian 18 or older must be at least 16 and show a state-issued photo ID to buy a day pass.
The center opened to the public over Memorial Day weekend, capped by a May 22 ribbon cutting. The roughly $36 million complex is the largest public works project in the city’s history, approved by voters through a 2021 sales tax that passed by 47 votes.
It has drawn steady crowds since, with families filling the indoor and outdoor pools and the gymnasium during summer break. The center offers swimming, splash pads, an indoor track and convention space, and houses the city Parks Department.
The age policy is the latest in a series of changes as the city works out the operation of its new center. The City Council recently took up an ordinance banning smoking and vaping across the site, including the outdoor pool.
