Children made “dirt cup” snacks and talked about healthy eating at a recent early literacy storytime, part of the Unearth a Story summer program at the Donald W. Reynolds Library Serving Baxter County.
The group read “How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?”, a picture book about mealtime manners. Afterward, each child built a snack from chocolate or vanilla pudding, crushed Oreo cookies and gummy worms.
Organizers used the snack to talk about treats in moderation, and about fruits, vegetables, whole grains and dairy.
The nutrition lesson was led by a partner organization working with the library.
