The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation will host a free fishing event for children with special needs on Saturday, April 18, at McCabe Park on Jerry Baker Lane.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes a morning of fishing, lunch and an awards ceremony. Farm Bureau Insurance is the presenting sponsor.
C.A.S.T. for Kids is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses the sport of fishing to enrich the lives of children with special needs, support their families and strengthen communities. The organization hosts events at lakes and parks across the country.

Each child will receive a fishing fun pack that includes a rod and reel, tackle box, T-shirt, hat and photo plaque. Volunteers will provide fishing guidance and instruction on basic techniques.
