Summer is a great time for children to relax and have fun, but it is also a time when summer learning loss can occur. Prevent that summer slide by joining a Summer Reading Program at the Library starting May 27. Read to earn prizes and have fun all summer long! Children, tween, and teen summer reading has gone digital – no paper forms. Sign up online at www.BaxLib.org/Resource-Library/Beanstack or use the Beanstack app, available in Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Registration will be based on the school grade completed.
Summer reading challenges aren’t just for children and youth – the Adult Summer Reading Challenge also starts May 27. Adults can sign up online and track using the Beanstack app, or if you are unable to access the internet, paper copies will be available at the Circulation Desk.
Registration for June summer programming is now open! Register for children, tween, teen, and family programming online using the Library event calendar at www.BaxLib.org/Events. Click on the event you would like to register for and have your Library card ready; you will need it to complete the registration. From Homesteading Skills to dissecting owl pellets with the Fred Berry Nature Center to magic shows, the Library has a program for everyone.
Not only does the Library have a ton of fun summer reading, but they also have a hot summer lineup of indoor concerts for all ages. Kicking off the indoor summer concert series on Saturday, June 10 at 6:00PM will be musician Jim Massey performing a variety of country and southern rock music. Bookworms Café will open its doors 30 minutes before the concert starts; grab a sandwich or pizza to share! Throughout the rest of the summer, there will be performances from musician/folklorist Julie Henigan performing traditional songs/instrumentals from Ireland and Scotland, and Mountain Home local musician Dylan Osmon will be performing soft rock.
