Baxter County Tax Collector Teresa Smith is reminding residents that 2024 county and school taxes are due Tuesday, Oct. 15. Payments can be made several ways, including in person at the collector’s office, online, by phone, by mail and by using the drop box, Smith said.
Residents paying online may use an e-check, credit card or debit card. Convenience fees apply to each of those options, according to Smith. Taxpayers can also scan the QR code printed on their mailed statement to go directly to the payment page.
Phone payments are available, but the office expects heavy call volume as the deadline approaches. Smith said callers may experience delays, so other methods are recommended when possible.
Mailed payments are accepted as on time if the envelope is postmarked no later than Oct. 15. Smith also noted that taxes remain due even if a taxpayer did not receive a statement in the mail; those residents can call the collector’s office to obtain their amount due.
The same Oct. 15 deadline and payment options apply to residents of Briarcliff. Briarcliff residents are still responsible for paying taxes, despite the ongoing Attorney General’s investigation in the city’s finances.
