The Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce released a statement Thursday evening, thanking local businesses and residents for their support and hard work in making this year’s 2024 Solar Eclipse a great experience despite a lower than expected turn out.
The statement can be read below:
The Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce wishes to express our gratitude to the community and the visitors who came to witness the solar eclipse in Mountain Home and the surrounding Twin Lakes area. This celestial event brought together people from across the nation and even from as far as Australia, showcasing our beautiful region to guests from 43 states.

Although the influx of visitors did not reach the levels we had anticipated, we are pleased to report an above-average number of tourists for the month of April. This outcome reflects the attractiveness of our area and the efforts made by our community to welcome our guests.
We would like to extend a special thank you to all community members and local businesses for their exceptional preparations and hospitality. Your commitment ensured that our visitors had enjoyable experiences, with many expressing their satisfaction and intentions to extend their stay or return in the future.
In coordination with local emergency management services, the Chamber diligently followed the preparation guidelines provided by the State of Arkansas. While the anticipated traffic was less than expected, our adherence to these state recommendations was paramount in our planning and execution of eclipse-related activities. The Chamber acknowledges and appreciates the collective efforts that made this event possible. Your support and enthusiasm contributed significantly to the positive experiences of our visitors and the smooth operation and success of the weekend.
