Mountain Home’s City Council will take up an updated employee handbook, a revised zoning table and a water treatment purchase when it meets Thursday, July 2. The agenda also carries a new subdivision plat, a list of surplus items headed to auction and the second reading of an ordinance overhauling food truck rules. The meeting starts at 5 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 720 Hickory St.
First among the ordinances is an updated personnel policy handbook for city employees, presented by Sue Strop, which would repeal Ordinance No. 2025-34. The handbook sets pay and leave rules for city workers, including holiday pay, vacation and sick leave. A version revised in November 2025 limits holiday pay to full-time employees, giving police officers and firefighters 13 paid holidays a year and non-uniform staff 12.
Clay Strain follows with an ordinance amending the city’s zoning ordinance and Ordinance No. 2026-11 to adopt an updated table of permitted uses. The table sets which uses are allowed in each zoning district, and it reaches well beyond the basics. Alongside homes, churches, retail and offices, it lists newer categories such as crypto mining, short-term rentals and food truck courts, the last tied to the food truck ordinance also up for a vote.
On the spending side, Steve Hill brings a resolution to put $41,913 toward four new valve actuators for the city’s water treatment plant, drawn from restricted funds in the water and sewer department’s depreciation account. William Wehmeyer of Consolidated Land Services presents an ordinance approving the final plat for Glenbriar Commons Phase 2D, a routine step that clears the subdivision phase for development. Hillrey Adams closes the business with a list of city items bound for Walker Auction, though the agenda does not spell out what is on it.
