A local chapter of a statewide women veterans organization is raising funds to place a bronze statue honoring female military service members at Mountain Home’s Veterans’ Plaza, with a dedication planned for mid-2027.
The Military Service Sisters Mountain Home Chapter is commissioning a life-size bronze statue of a kneeling female soldier for the memorial. The organization is seeking donations from individuals, businesses, and community partners to make the project a reality. Donors contributing $1,000 or more will be permanently recognized on the memorial plaque.
Founded in 2017, the Mountain Home Chapter of Military Service Sisters has grown into a statewide network supporting women veterans across Arkansas. The organization’s mission is to celebrate, support, and preserve the legacy of women in military service.
Women currently make up nearly 20 percent of active-duty military personnel and 18 percent of the National Guard and Reserves. Arkansas is home to more than 20,000 women veterans, with many living in the Twin Lakes area. The memorial would be the only monument in Arkansas dedicated specifically to honoring their service.
