The Baxter County Library is excited to announce the addition of Pilestone Color Blind Glasses to its Special Collections, generously donated by the Mountain Home Lions Club.
These innovative glasses are designed to help individuals with color vision deficiencies see the world in its full, vibrant color. By filtering specific wavelengths of light, Pilestone glasses enhance the differentiation of colors, providing a richer, more accurate perception without curing color blindness.
The Library now offers glasses for various types of color vision deficiency:
- Red/Green (Mild/Moderate & Strong/Severe) – available in adult and child sizes, including clip-on options
- Blue/Yellow – available in adult sizes and clip-on options
Phil Garner of the Mountain Home Lions Club said, “The Mountain Home Lions Club is proud to support the Baxter County Library with equipment designed to assist those persons with impaired vision. Our members hope that the club’s assistance will result in greater visitor access to the library’s many resources.”
The glasses are available for one-week checkout at the Circulation Desk. They are perfect for learning, experimentation, or simply exploring the world in a new way.
Library Director Kim Crow Sheaner said, “We are extremely grateful to the Mountain Home Lions Club for their gift, and to Library staff for recognizing this need. Having these glasses available for checkout, will provide people with the opportunity to try out the glasses and experience how they work, before they purchase their own.”
These color blind glasses join a host of other items available for checkout at the Baxter County Library, including telescopes, ukuleles, knitting looms, fishing poles, and more.
