The Mountain Home Parks and Recreation Department received the 2021 Arkansas Turfgrass Association Field of the Year Award for the Lester White Field.
The Lester White Field has been the home field for the Mountain Home American Legion baseball team since the early 90’s. The field also served as the home of the Mountain Home High School Baseball team until 2017. It is named after American Legion Baseball Coach Lester White, who completed his 38th season as the team’s coach in 2021 and has compiled over 1000 wins.

In 2021 the Lester White Field played host to numerous events including the first annual Forrest Wood Memorial Tournament, Arkansas 2A Regionals, and the 35th annual Twin Lakes Classic, which garnered American Legion teams from four different states.
The field is maintained by a collaboration of the Mountain Home Parks Department and the Mountain Home American Legion. All turf management practices are performed by the parks staff and infield game prep for American Legion games is performed by the team. All other game preparations and field maintenance is undertaken by Parks Department Staff.
