Mountain Home Parks and Recreation is offering a free water aerobics class in July that lets adults work out with a young child in tow. Aqua-Gen Parent and Me Aerobics runs from July 6 through July 17 at the Mountain Home Materials Diving and Slide Pool. Registration is required and open through ActiveNet.
Classes meet from 11 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. No class is held on Wednesdays. The outdoor sessions run as weather permits.
Each adult may bring one child to act as added resistance during the workout. Children who cannot swim or stand alone serve as the “water weight,” and toddler floats or rafts are allowed for this class only. Children who can follow the workout on their own may use community center equipment as available.
Participants can bring their own water weights, noodles and rafts or tubes, and should label each item with a name. Water shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses and hats are recommended to guard against sun and rough surfaces. Water bottles are allowed on the deck, but glass, soda, juice and food are not.
The class is open to parents and grandparents, with one child per adult allowed in the pool area. Equipment on site is limited. For more information, contact Megan at [email protected].
