Mountain Home Parks and Recreation begins offering water fitness classes for adults today.
Water Aerobics and Water Walking are open to men and women ages 16 and older. Classes will run Monday through Friday, with sessions from 9 to 10 a.m. and 10 to 11 a.m.
Water Aerobics is a low-impact workout that combines resistance, stretching and cardio exercises. Those classes will take place in the Mountain Home Materials Diving and Slide Pool.
Water Walking is designed to build cardio fitness and stamina. Those classes will take place in the Waste Connections Lazy River.
The first 15 minutes of each class are set aside for socializing and warming up before instruction begins.
Classes will be held outdoors, so organizers ask participants to watch the weather. Pools close during heavy rain and when lightning occurs within 10 miles of the facility.
Water shoes are required for Water Walking. A limited amount of workout equipment will be available on a first come, first served basis, and participants are welcome to bring their own water weights and noodles labeled with their name.
There is no extra cost to join the classes. Participants who are not members or do not have a punch pass will need to pay a day fee to use the facility.
