Isabel Tilley, 14, of Mountain Home has won first place in the eighth-grade division of the 2025 Wildlife of Arkansas Student Art Contest, the Arkansas Wildlife Federation announced.
Tilley, who has been drawing and taking art lessons most of her life, will have her artwork featured in an online exhibit at www.arwild.org in June. Her winning piece will also be published in the summer issue of “Arkansas Out of Doors,” the federation’s bimonthly magazine established in 1946.
The contest, supported by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and coordinated by Creative Ideas, required students to create original artwork featuring Arkansas-native plants, wildlife or landscapes. Entries were judged on creativity, skill and interpretation of the theme.
“The Wildlife of Arkansas theme acknowledges the natural beauty of Arkansas by providing the perfect inspiration for students to explore their natural surroundings and their artistic abilities,” according to contest guidelines.
An awards reception honoring Tilley and other winners will be held Saturday, May 31, from 1-3 p.m. at the Arkansas State Capitol, where a traveling exhibition featuring the winning artwork will debut.
The Arkansas Wildlife Federation, founded in 1936 and formally incorporated in 1944, is an independent, non-governmental organization dedicated to the conservation of wildlife in the Natural State. As the state affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation, AWF has worked for more than 86 years to protect Arkansas wildlife through various conservation efforts and policy initiatives.
