Redmond MCJROTC defeats Mountain Home NJROTC

Redmond MCJROTC defeated Mountain Home NJROTC 972.2 to 940.9 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Redmond MCJROTC was led by Simeon Lovric who shot a 251.6.

The remaining contributing members were Gavvin McLaren, Aidan Waterman, and Callan Mcnee. They are from Redmond, OR, and are coached by Doug Seal.

Redmond MCJROTC is competing in the Elite Division where they are currently ranked in sixth place. Within the Marine Corps Jrotc Conference they are in first place. They have a 1 – 2 record.

Snapping a three game win streak Shooting their highest team score of the season Mountain Home NJROTC was led by Trinity Cruse who shot a 242.8. The remaining contributing members were Johnathon Mason, Mason Bright, and Justin Kubistek. Mountain Home NJROTC is from Mountain Home, AR, and is coached by Jason Williams.

Mountain Home NJROTC is also competing in the Elite Division where they are currently ranked in tenth place. They have a 3 – 1 record.

Next up Redmond MCJROTC will compete against Franklin Parish AJROTC from Winnsboro, LA. Franklin Parish AJROTC currently has a 0 – 3 record. While Mountain Home NJROTC will compete against Joliet West AJROTC from Joliet, IL. Joliet West AJROTC currently has a 1 – 3 record.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.

The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.

The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.

In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete’s total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
