U.S. Senate candidate Hallie Shoffner will hold a meet-and-greet Monday, Sept. 14, at The Elms Barn in Flippin.
The Democratic Party of Marion County is hosting the event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 3540 Highway 62 East. It is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
Shoffner, a Democrat, is challenging Republican Sen. Tom Cotton in the Nov. 3 general election. Cotton is seeking a third term.
A sixth-generation farmer, Shoffner grew up on a soybean and rice farm outside Newport. She holds a degree from Vanderbilt University and studied at the Clinton School of Public Service. Her work has focused on conservation, sustainable farming, regional food production and hunger relief.
“I’m running for the United States Senate because I have seen firsthand how policy decisions affect real people and real communities,” Shoffner said. “I will fight for Arkansas every day, because I believe hard work should mean a good life again.”
Organizers are asking attendees who are able to bring nonperishable food items for donation to a local food pantry.
