The Baxter County Quorum Court will hold a special session Monday for the second reading of the ordinance to dissolve the Baxter County Airport Commission.
The meeting comes after last Tuesday’s vote to dissolve the commission failed 6-3 with one abstention. Questions arose during that meeting about whether the vote required a super majority to pass.
Officials have since consulted with the Association of Arkansas Counties regarding proper voting procedures for dissolving county commissions.
The special session is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday in the second-floor courtroom of the Baxter County Courthouse. This meeting will only involve the second reading of the ordinance, with no public debate.
The third and final reading, which will include public comment and debate, is scheduled for Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m., also in the courthouse.
The ordinance, if passed, would replace the current airport commission with a five-member advisory board appointed by County Judge Kevin Litty.
