The Baxter County Early Literacy Project invites the community to participate in a book drive happening at the Baxter County Library, “Donate to the Book Crate!” This drive focuses on collecting new or gently used children’s books to support the 9 Early Literacy Project Little Free Libraries across Baxter County.
The Book Crate is seeking donations of board, picture, and small chapter books. Those wishing to donate can drop off their books at the Donald W. Reynolds Library Serving Baxter County, 300 Library Hill Ln, Mountain Home, AR 72653, during regular Library hours. There are 2 crate locations within the Library; one is located in the Great Hall when you first enter the Library, and the other is next to the self-checkout area downstairs.
The Baxter County Early Literacy Little Free Libraries provide an opportunity for anyone to take a children’s book or leave one to share. It’s a simple yet impactful way to foster a love for reading among young children. You can use the Little Free Library Locator Map link on the Library’s website to find the location of each Little Free Library, www.BaxLib.org/Early-Literacy-Project.
The Baxter County Early Literacy Project is dedicated to equipping all Baxter County children with the early literacy skills necessary for a successful entry into Kindergarten. The Early Literacy Project achieves its mission by getting books into the hands of children, promoting the importance of early literacy, instilling the practice of reading aloud into the family culture, and increasing awareness of Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards.
