Team 16, Bomb Squad, concluded their 2025 season with an impressive performance at the FIRST Robotics Competition World Championship in Houston, Texas. Competing among over 600 teams from 17 different countries, the Bomb Squad was assigned to the Galileo Division.
In the Galileo Division, they faced 75 teams representing 23 US states and 7 countries, including Canada, Israel, Turkey, Chinese Taipei, China, and India. Following strong qualification matches, the Bomb Squad was selected to join the 1st place alliance alongside:
- Team 4946 “The Alpha Dogs” from Ontario, Canada
- Team 180 “S.P.A.M.” from Stuart, Florida
- Team 498 “The Cobra Commanders” from Glendale, Arizona
Their alliance dominated the Galileo Division playoffs, going undefeated and securing the division championship with a narrow 1-point victory in the final match.
The Bomb Squad alliance then advanced to compete on the Einstein Field against the other seven division champions. After competing in four matches on Einstein, they were eliminated, finishing as the 5th-ranked alliance worldwide at the 2025 FRC Championship.
FRC 16, Bomb Squad, was founded in 1996. It is a community robotics team aiming to empower students and help them learn real skills to succeed in life. Since their founding, they have won 22 regionals, earned 57 awards, and 35 blue banners.
However, they had only been to the World Finals, Einstein, twice in team history. After 13 years, this past Saturday, they changed that, putting them at a solid 3 Einstein appearances. This made Bomb Squad 22nd in the world for the most Einstein appearances, out of over 10,000 teams.
Bomb Squads’ 5th place finish is all due to the hard work, time, and dedication of students and mentors, but it would never be possible without the support from our community.
