The Baxter County Library will be hosting a series of Indoor Summer Concerts starting Saturday, June 18, at 7pm with local eclectic music duo Garrett and Ashton Duncan. The Bookworms Café, located at the Library, will be open 6:00pm – 8:00pm on concert nights.
Garrett Duncan is the third generation to be involved in the music business. His grandfather, the late Johnny Duncan, was a musician and vocalist on the Gene Williams Show, and his father, James Duncan, was the manager for Sammy Kershaw. Garrett began learning to play the guitar at age seven. He was inspired, taught, and encouraged by Dennis Horton. Garrett is now married to his music duo partner Ashton, who has only recently started performing. Growing up, Ashton sang in her church and at home as often as she could. Ashton was in the worship band when she attended Williams Baptist University, and she’s now excited to be playing more music with her husband. The Duncans play a wide variety of music, spanning anywhere from the Beatles to Greenday. No matter who you are, they’re sure to have something you’ll love.
The Duncans are just the first of three in the Library’s Indoor Summer Concert Series. On July 19, you can beat the heat with some cool jazz from the Daniel Bennet Group, a jazz trio from New York. In August, you can enjoy the local harmonies of Amber Sutton and Chris Cash, a pop-folk duo.
