It’s time for another edition of the Observatory, the one-stop-shop of what’s going on in Mountain Home and the surrounding areas for the next week.

Firefighter’s Pancake Breakfast
February 12 @ 7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.
The Clarkridge Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a pancake breakfast this Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 1201 Highway 201 N. Cost for adults is $7.50. Children age 12 or younger can get breakfast for $4.
Virtual Valentine Date Nite FUNdraiser
February 12 @ 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Stay in and stay cozy this Valentine’s Day weekend. Join us for a virtual valentine date night fundraiser benefiting the Library and the Twin Lakes Playhouse.
Each Date-Night Package includes all the sweet and savory ingredients to make a delicious and romantic charcuterie board (including the board), a voucher for wine or beer from Jack’s Package Store, and an on-demand link to watch a virtual presentation of scenes from On Golden Pond performed by the Twin Lakes Playhouse.

Dinky Donkey Valentine

Stop by Gregg Farms Mtn. Home feed store for cuddles and photo ops with Dinky Donkey. He had so much fun playing elf at Christmas, he wants to come back dressed for Valentine.
Dinky will be indoors this time – so it’s a rain or shine event. Heavy snow would have an impact.

The Ozark Patriots, a constitutional conservative grassroots political action group that meets every second and fourth Monday in Mountain Home, is hosting a special Valentine’s evening informal town hall with AR House D3 candidate Tom Bryant.

Cardio Kickboxing & Strength Training

The Schliemann Center for Women’s Health Education sponsors Cardio Kickboxing & Weight Training for women with Angie Bertel every Monday and Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Baxter Regional Wellness Education Center at 2545 Hwy 5 North.
Women who don’t exercise can lose anywhere from 3 to 8% of their muscle mass each decade due to inactivity. Studies show that strength training can promote bone development, reduce lower back pain, and reverse several skeletal muscle aging factors.
Kickboxing has become a popular sport because it provides a fantastic workout and challenges many of our senses and capacities.
If you want to feel better about your body, both in how it looks and performs, these sessions are for you!

Threads of Hope Creating Gifts for Cancer Patients – Peitz Cancer Support House
February 14 @ 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Do you like to knit or crochet? How about sewing or needlework, or quilting?
Would you like to learn how?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you should join us at Threads of Hope at 1 pm on Monday afternoons.
This group offers lots of encouragement and support to one another as they spend time at their weekly meetings, and you just might learn a new stitch. Anyone with interest in any type of needlework is welcome to attend.
Threads of Hope provides different things to different people. For cancer survivors, you can learn a craft to help pass the time between or after treatments. For some, it provides a way to support others, even if you’re not a cancer survivor yourself. The group may make lap robes, prayers shawls, or caps that are distributed to those patients in treatment. For others, it provides a place to enjoy fun and companionship.
Yoga – Baxter County Library

Join us for yoga!
Volunteer, Tony Khayat, will lead you through gentle exercises to promote fitness and flexibility. Relieve stress and tension, trim, shape, and tone the body with a regenercize workout. This class is suitable for both beginner and intermediate yoga practitioners.
Must be age 18 and older.

Modeling Debut at Rapp’s Barren Brewing Company

Modeling is a three-piece experimental, electronic group creating introspective music inspired by film scores, visual arts and personal experiences.
Comprised of brothers Connor, Ryan and Cuinn Brogan, the band places most of their sonic emphasis on intense, analog synth sounds and detail-oriented, electronic textures.
Many of their songs center around themes of longing, alienation and feelings of nostalgia with lyrical references to dreams and memories of a time before.

Twin Lakes Radio will be hosting its boat and outdoor show this Thursday at the Baxter County Fairgrounds. The show will feature boats, grills, lawn equipment, ATV’s and more.

Derek Herndon LIVE Rapp’s Barren Brewing Company

Derek is a singer/songwriter from a small town in Arkansas. He has performed at several honorable places along his musical journey.
He has two self-released CD’s that have been quite successful in helping support his music and able him to continue to travel and play various locations.
Playing every weekend to get by and keep the music going! He has played in festivals, at the great Tin Roof stage in Nashville, and several other dives and music spots.
