WoW Gifts LLC will be hosting a fundraiser for IGY6 K9S, aka “I Got Your Six K9s”. The foundation was originated by Russell Steed, US Navy, in 2019. The fundraiser will help veterans purchase and receive professional training for their service dogs. The funds raised will also pay for their service dog’s medical expenses.
The fundraiser will be held Monday, March 21 through Friday, March 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 9 a.m. through 4 p.m., and Sunday, March 27, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
From the 14th of March till the 25th of March, we will be accepting donations for a silent auction held on Saturday, March 26, starting at 9 a.m. The winners will be announced at 2 p.m. on March 27. During the fundraiser week from the 21st to the 27th, WoW Gifts LLC will be donating 30% of resale items sold to the IGY6 K9S Foundation.
Veterans, including Rhonda Lawrence from Lakeview, US Navy, will be here Monday the 21st thru Friday the 25th from 12 PM to 1 PM with their service dogs giving demonstrations and teaching about the process of receiving and training a service dog. She will also talk about the difference between a service dog and an emotional support dog.
On Saturday, March 26, Trainers Lucas Bishop (Navy & Marines), Amanda Pipkin (Army), and service dog recipient Rhonda Lawrence (Navy) will be here from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to give demonstrations and to speak about the training process and what this foundation means to them and how it can help save lives.
Our goal is to raise $10,000. The funds will be used to help a Soldier receive, train, and pay for medical expenses for their service dog.
Service Dogs are highly trained to help with everyday struggles that are part of their owners’ lives. They help with PTSD and depression. They also help with lifesaving assistance, such as notifying someone if their handler has fallen, crippling anxiety, and if their sugar is getting low. Along with daily existence tasks like opening doors, retrieving items, and helping with motivation and stability.
Individual donations of $50 and/or in-store resale purchases of $75 or more will receive a voucher to Nome’s 2 Bros, Tacos, located on the premises.
