A Yellville man has been charged with capital murder in connection with the November death of a 73-year-old woman whose body was found in a wooded area near her home.
Jimmy Jay Liverett, 49, was taken into custody Monday and transported to the Marion County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond pending his initial appearance in Marion County Circuit Court.
Liverett faces charges of capital murder, a Class Y felony, aggravated robbery, a Class Y felony, abuse of a corpse, a Class C felony, and two counts of tampering with physical evidence, a Class D felony.
The charges stem from the death of Dena Andrews, 73, at a residence on Broad Rock Lane in the rural Lakeway area of Marion County. Andrews was reported missing Nov. 13, 2025, and found deceased the following day in a wooded area a short distance from her home.
The Arkansas State Medical Examiner ruled Andrews’ death a homicide caused by a gunshot wound.
Investigators initially located and arrested Liverett on Nov. 16, 2025, at a motel in Strafford, Missouri, for the theft of Andrews’ vehicle. Further investigation and testing of evidence by the Arkansas State Crime Lab identified Liverett as the suspect in her death.
An arrest affidavit was prepared and submitted to Marion County Circuit Court, where a warrant for Liverett’s arrest was issued.
Liverett was taken into custody Monday without incident.
The United States Marshals Service Western Arkansas Fugitive Task Force assisted in Liverett’s apprehension.
