The Mountain Home City Council is set to consider several items at its upcoming meeting on Thursday, Sept. 5, including resolutions on abandoning a utility easement and waiving competitive bidding for park renovations and equipment purchases.
The council will hold a public hearing regarding the abandonment of a utility easement on lots in the Big Creek Estates subdivision. Property owners Gregory and Diane DeRose have petitioned to vacate the easement.
Two resolutions would waive competitive bidding requirements. One would authorize the Parks Department to contract with Specialized Outdoor Services for renovations to Cooper Park’s Lester White Field, not to exceed $71,625. The other would allow the Water Department to purchase a 2019 Caterpillar dozer from Riggs CAT of Springdale for up to $90,500.
The council is also slated for a third reading and possible adoption of two ordinances. One would update the city code by repealing outdated sections on the public facilities board, taxi franchises, and street construction. The other would regulate the retail sale, manufacture and use of fireworks within city limits.
The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday in the Council Chambers at 720 Hickory Street. Other agenda items include committee reports and bank reconciliations.
